The Clearing is a space for people interested in pursuing questions about
the emergent intelligence of networks. Together, we explore their rhythm
and flow. We consider how through the powerful mechanisms and effect of
the network the social is transforming the technological and how the
tech is making new forms of sociability.
Our focus is on engaging, relevant conversation that synthesizes current
events and technology. We seek to understand the beautiful complexity
that is emerging as the fusion of human and “artificial” networks
that create a constellation of disruption effects. These phenomena
are challenging established
norms in everything from our conception of intelligence to the foundational
assumptions of our economic and social order. We believe that understanding
the dynamics and pattern of these effects will be critical to effective
engagement in many contexts.
The Clearing is a conversation about creating an open “school” or “laboratory” for
on-going learning and the development of ideas, events and enterprises.
